In the Spring 2006 edition of Inside the Gate, we asked alumni to fill us in on their plans for Summer 2006.  Below are some of the answers they gave:

Study Abroad: I will be spending a whole month in Koen Kaen Thailand, studying abroad through a Global Seminar. I will also be spending a few days on Laos. I am excited for a whole new experience and cultural exploration!

Summer Courses: This summer, I plan on taking 12 credits to prepare for entering the Nursing program in the fall, which includes getting my CAN and getting certified in CPR.

Internship with General Mills: This summer, I will be in Buffalo, New York doing a manufacturing/operations engineering internship with General Mills

Research: From June 5th to August 6th I will be in Colorado doing biomedical research.

College
Working: I will most likely be working with the same company I worked with last year, doing irrigation installation (digging trenches, putting pipe lines and installing valves...) for homes around the Twin Cities.

Traveling: This summer, I am going to Nebraska to meet one of my friends from France and then traveling back to France with her.  From there, I am going to Germany, to see my home country Togo play in the World Cup.

Summer Courses: I am going to Thailand for May session.  Then I am taking either Chinese, history or statistics courses for the rest of the summer.

Study Abroad: In June, I will be going to Thailand for a six-week course through UW-Eau Claire.  I am taking two courses: “Culture of Ethnic Groups in Thailand” and “Sustainable Development-Conservation of the Environment”

Jessica Brooks (Roosevelt ’05) Carleton College
Internship with Target: This summer, I have an internship with Target Corporation INROADS as an executive store manager of Northfield Target.

Study Abroad: I’m going to Cuernavaca, Mexico this summer for three weeks to study Spanish.  It’s a study abroad program through the University of Minnesota, and I can’t wait!

Working: My plan for this summer is to get a summer job in the field of my major, which is automotive service.  I might also do some traveling.

Travel: I'm going to Vietnam with my brother and my dad for a month.

Working: I have applied for two counselor positions, as well as two internships.

Internship with Schwans in the Twin Cities.

Orientation Leader: This summer I'll be working on campus as an Orientation Leader for the freshmen orientation sessions. I'm really excited to begin training in June and to see the incoming freshmen in July.
