Bee Yang (Arlington ’02) Spartan School of Aeronautics
Aviation Weather--After that class I can tell how the weather is going to re-act and make my decision on whether I should fly or cancel my flight.

Maikao Xiong (Arlington '03) Gustavus Adolphus
U.S. Government and Politics-- It has taught me critical thinking skills and, most importantly, how to write and debate. I believe these are important skills that I need in today’s complex society.

Yang Bee Vue (Johnson ’04) MIT
Tennis--I loved beginner’s tennis 1st semester of my freshman year

Blia Yang (Patrick Henry ’04)
University of Minnesota, Twin Cities
Service Learning
--This course gave me the opportunity to volunteer at Phalen Lake Elementary. I tutor a diverse group of students as well as the new Hmong refugees.

Ifrah Jimale (Roosevelt ’04)
St.
Thomas
World Geography--We learned something about every country in the world. The class was an amazing combination of history, business, economic, politics and everything in between! All the international students got to teach the class about their own country. We got the chance to be a college professor for a day!

Japanese--The class is challenging, but the professor is always laughing and energetic. I hope to get a chance to study abroad in
Japan.

Intro to Public Speaking-- The professor was amazing and made the class a lot more fun. Even though giving a speech in front of class isn't the most fun thing to do, this class made it seem like a piece of cake!

Sophie Ngo (Central ’05) Macalester

Fibers II--I had the chance to do something I had never done before - weave! Until you have seen what my classmates and I have done - don't laugh, you just might be amazed, as I was.

Amber Rickard (Roosevelt ‘05)
St. Thomas
English--I enjoyed reading the books and discussing them in class, and I grew in my analytical thinking skills

Aisha Williams (Harding ’05) Globe College
Art Structure-- This course gives perspective of how Art and Design is related to our lives through lines, shape, colors, and value; it gives good examples about creating an image not through just reading, but also through creative thought and expression.

Pang Kou Xiong (Harding ’05) St. Cloud State
Chemistry-- I'm going to major in the medical field to learn more about
DNA, the periodic table, chromosomes, etcetera.

Tolbert (Patrick Henry ’05) Wartburg

English--Though English is my second language, my professor created a great environment for learning.  She was very friendly, very understanding and knew every one by name and face. This made the class the most enjoyable, fun and educational.

Cherkos Dessalegn, (
Highland Park ’05) Southwest State University

Capital Budgeting--Capital budgeting is vital in marketing decisions. The economy is not at its best condition as we speak. If the investment is unprofitable in the long run, it is unwise to invest in it now.

Tenzin Yingchuk (Highland Park ’05) Southwest State
Cell Biology--The professor is great.  He gives great lectures, is never boring, and uses humor in his teaching.

DeOnna Gray-Lige (Southwest ’05) Southwest State

Finite Mathematics—The class was challenging and kept me focused.  On top of all that the professor was wonderful. She really cared about where the students were as far as learning the material and she was very knowledgeable about the subject.

Daniel Stark, (Roosevelt ’05) Gustavus Adolphus College

Modern Russia-- It was interesting to read about the rise and fall of a hegemonic power (i.e. the Soviet Union) and the formation of the Russian Federation (who we see today as an important power player in international politics, for better or worse).

Panhia Vang (Central ’05) Gustavus Adolphus
Cultural Anthropology--The professor taught the subject with interest and excitement and we had chances to become involved in many interesting activities outside of the classroom.

Multicultural Relations—We had discussions that dealt with issues that people from outside the circle of difference and diversity might not see if they weren’t talked about.

Neyo Sossou (Southwest ’05) University of Minnesota, Twin Cities
Oral Communication—I can now make a speech with good eye contact.  Also, it was so fun to inform people about the national anthem of
South Africa for my informative speech.

Sahra Mohamud (Roosevelt ’05)
University of Minnesota, Twin Cities
Biology--I happen to have the best teacher anyone can have. I love his lectures and he actually made me understand a lot of things that surround me. I am thankful that I took that class because I often find myself talking about what I learned in lecture with my family and friends. Now I am actually thinking about minoring in Biology.

Mai Chong Lee (Harding ’06) Argosy University in Minnesota

Den 121 Clinic I Pre-clinic--This class is a real challenge and it is the only class I look forward to every week. Everything is hands on which is the best way I learn. This class stands out more than the rest because of the professor. She is no joke which makes me want to be on top of everything, when it comes to her class. Overall, this class helps me get a feel of something I want and takes me one step closer towards my profession.

Koua Xiong, (Patrick Henry ’08) Wellesley College

Introduction to Peace and Justice-- It is an extraordinary class where we evaluate differing techniques to conflict resolution around the world.  What is absolutely great about this course is that at the end of the semester, I will be able to display my knowledge by applying these techniques to the current issue of the Hmong community. I hope to find a way to use what I have learned to help in some way with resolving the persecution that exists today.  I encourage students to take a peace and justice course and be part of the peace-making process of our world today!

Chue Vue, (Arlington ’08) Saint Olaf College

A Religion course--It is my favorite due to my lack of prior knowledge about the bible and its complexity globally and how it is used. This class was intimidating but my professor mad me feel comfortable. It is an 8 AM class, which could make it hard to roll out of bed in the morning, but my Professor really made the class energetic and fun with his teaching style. It is a combination of everything, discussion, group work, essay, critical reviews, library research...etc...This forced me to get to know my resources on campus and to also seek the assistance of my peers in this class.
